As part of the Iraqi Arbitration Week, a specialized training workshop titled “International Commercial Arbitration for In-House Legal Counsel” was held, organized by the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce (FICC) in cooperation with the State Council, ICC Iraq, UNDP Iraq and Etihad Law Firm Ltd, with event management by Progress Group Limited
The workshop brought together a wide group of legal advisors from government entities and the private sector, aimed at strengthening national legal capacity in international commercial arbitration and deepening understanding of its mechanisms as an efficient alternative to traditional litigation.
The training was delivered by Dr. Ismail Selim, Director of the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA), and Dr. Mohammed Abdul Raouf, International Arbitrator and Counsel, who presented advanced concepts and practical applications in arbitration.
The session also covered drafting arbitration clauses in commercial contracts in line with UNCITRAL standards and ICC Arbitration Rules, as well as effective case management tools such as the ICC Portal.
This workshop is part of ongoing national efforts led by FICC and ICC Iraq to promote arbitration in Iraq and strengthen legal practitioners’ capabilities in line with international practices.
